Recognizing When a Preference System is Close to Admitting a Master List

نویسندگان

چکیده

A preference system $$\mathcal {I}$$ is an undirected graph where vertices have preferences over their neighbors, and admits a master list if all can be derived from single ordering vertices. We study the problem of deciding whether given close to admitting based on three different distance measures. determine computational complexity following questions: modified by (i) k swaps in preferences, (ii) edge deletions, or (iii) vertex deletions so that resulting instance list? investigate these problems detail viewpoint parameterized approximation. also present two applications related stable popular matchings.

NOTE - List Colouring when the Chromatic Number is Close to the Order of the Graph

An instance of List Colouring consists of a graph G and a list L(v) of colours for each vertex v of G. We are asked to determine if there is an acceptable colouring of G, that is a colouring in which each vertex receives a colour from its list, and no edge has both its endpoints coloured with the same colour. The list-chromatic number of G, denoted χl(G) is the minimum integer k such that for e...

On the construction of evolution equations admitting a master symmetry

A method for constructing evolution equations admitting a master symmetry is proposed. Several examples illustrating the method are presented. It is also noted that for certain evolution equations master symmetries can be useful for obtaining new conservation laws from a given one. When the human circadian system is caught napping: evidence for endogenous rhythms close to 24 hours.

It is now well acknowledged that napping constitutes an inherent component of the human circadian system. To date, however, few studies have examined the effects of spontaneous napping on human free-running rhythms. This study investigated the free-running circadian periods of rest/activity and body core temperature in a group of young subjects who were permitted to nap during their time in iso...

Recognizing a DOG is Hard, But Not When It is Thin and Unit

We define the notion of disk-obedience for a set of disks in the plane and give results for diskobedient graphs (DOGs), which are disk intersection graphs (DIGs) that admit a planar embedding with vertices inside the corresponding disks. We show that in general it is hard to recognize a DOG, but when the DIG is thin and unit (i.e., when the disks are unit disks), it can be done in linear time. ...

When is the ring of real measurable functions a hereditary ring?

‎Let $M(X‎, ‎mathcal{A}‎, ‎mu)$ be the ring of real-valued measurable functions‎ ‎on a measure space $(X‎, ‎mathcal{A}‎, ‎mu)$‎. ‎In this paper‎, ‎we characterize the maximal ideals in the rings of real measurable functions‎ ‎and as a consequence‎, ‎we determine when $M(X‎, ‎mathcal{A}‎, ‎mu)$ is a hereditary ring.
